VP Advertising & Sponsorship Sales
New YorkWorking in concert with the executive management team, the VP, Advertising & Sponsorship Sales will build and manage a high performance advertising sales and sponsorship group. S/he will identify key industry verticals and develop compelling advertising sales strategies that enable immediate penetration of each market. The VP will target large national sponsorship partnerships, as well as local advertising prospects in key regions of business expansion and revenue potential. The VP will passionately evangelize the company's mission and growth to all potential advertising and sponsorship partners, both at the client and agency levels.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Advertising Sales Strategy
RecycleBank’s program affords brands a unique opportunity to gain access to communities of highly engaged individuals through a variety of online and offline programmatic touchpoints, while supporting measureable green actions. The role of the VP Advertising and Sponsorship Sales Executive will be to:
- Develop comprehensive multi-media advertising sales and sponsorship strategy, including tactics, targets, packaging, pricing, and the staffing necessary to maximize revenue
- Analyze RecycleBank's existing data (demographic, geographic, behavioral and transactional) to prioritize targets by type (e.g. vertical categories) and corresponding bundled program assets (both online and off)
- Lead the company's sales efforts by personally developing, negotiating and closing key accounts
- Evaluate all current tools for the ad sales program (online and offline, advertising and sponsorship) and identify / recommend revised or new programs, including state-of-the-art technologies and practices in the online ad sales industry, to ensure that RecycleBank's advertising systems and programs outperform customer expectations
- Drive a plan that is definitive, yet remains flexible to take advantage of the evolving assets and consistent business growth
Success Metrics
- Develop internal review protocols to ensure that the ad sales plan maximizes the opportunity with the identified audience
- Prepare dashboards and monthly and/or quarterly reports for the executive team and Board of Directors
Management
- Hire and manage an ad sales / sponsorship team
- Ensure that compensation and career development programs attract and retain superior talent
- Create and manage the strategies, tactics, and methods by which the ad sales team develops and closes new clients
- Manage revenue performance against plan, and develop the underlying reporting regime
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships and communication with all other company segments, enabling optimal results
- Help RecycleBank build and manage relationships with key clients and constituencies
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have a track record of sales success, including the development and evangelism of market-leading, multifaceted advertising products. Experience at a premium brand internet company is preferred. The ideal candidate is passionate about business, creative and curious, and has proven traits of leadership, decisiveness and the ability to build and motivate an exceptionally talented team. The desire to thrive in a fast-growing, controlled-chaos small business environment is critical, as is a strong belief in the environmental mission of RecycleBank.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Proven ability to manage a top-flight advertising sales team, offering a suite of online and offline products tailored to a diverse set of customers
- Experience analyzing customer business requirements and building creative and effective advertising solutions and messages
- Experience working closely with executive management teams to discuss and finalize new advertising sales strategies
- Management record shows consistent ability to build sound, structured sales processes and outperform sales plans
- Personal sales record shows a consistent ability to develop and maintain lucrative long-term relationships with leading companies
- Has deep relationships with brand leaders and advertising agencies
- In-depth familiarity with CPC, CPA, Affiliate, and CPM models
- Strong writing, presentation and analytical skills
- Familiarity with website analytics, usability, and design
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelors Degree
- 15+ years experience in advertising sales or related fields
- Strategic online experience a must
