Director, Business Development - Utility Rewards Programs
Reporting to the Vice President of Business Development, the Director, Business Development will develop partnerships with energy and water utilities, smart meter companies and utility marketing services companies in order to utilize RecycleBank's acclaimed green rewards program to motivate residential energy and water efficiency.
The Director will be responsible for securing partnerships that utilize RecycleBank Points as an incentive for customers to reduce or shift their energy use or change energy providers. S/he will work closely with RecycleBank's Rewards, Sales, Marketing and Technology teams to execute such partnerships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The role of the Director, Business Development will be to:
- Develop partnerships with energy and water utilities, smart meter companies and utility marketing services companies that involve the use of RecycleBank Points as an incentive currency and as a loyalty program
- Assist the Vice President, Business Development in refining our strategy and program offering as well as determining sales goals, targets and pricing
- Develop sales materials as required including presentations and analytical models used to forecast optimal uptake of points
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and launch RecycleBank's product, and actively contribute to its evolution
- Personally develop, negotiate and close key accounts
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidate must have an extensive track record of measurable success in corporate partnership development and sales within the utility market. Candidate must have in-depth understanding of residential conservation and energy efficiency initiatives as well as familiarity with consumer rewards/loyalty programs. The ideal candidate has demonstrated leadership and motivational skills, thrives in a fast-paced work environment and holds a strong belief in RecycleBank's environmental mission.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to develop corporate partnerships and drive sales within the utility industry
- In-depth understanding of the energy/water utility marketplace including regulatory environment, residential conservation efforts, and current marketing initiatives, technology and investments focused on residential energy/water use and efficiency
- Ability to gain access to senior level decision-makers at utilities, smart meter and energy efficiency companies
- Personal sales record showing a consistent ability to develop and maintain lucrative long-term relationships with leading companies
- Familiarity with rewards and loyalty marketing best practices
- Strong writing, presentation and analytical skills
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years experience focused on developing corporate partnerships within the utility industry or within the reward and loyalty industry
- Bachelors Degree, MBA preferred
